i-CAT® for Orthodontics®

Opus1 Orthodontic Studio is proud to employ some of the most advanced technologies in orthodontics to make your treatment faster, easier, less invasive, more precise and more successful.

With the i-CAT Cone Beam Imaging system, we can scan your teeth and jaws for a 3D image with improved accuracy and obtain faster results than traditional full-mouth x-rays.

How Does the i-CAT 3D Imaging System Work?

While you remain comfortably seated, the i-CAT scanner moves around your head taking a high-definition digital picture of your exact teeth position and underlying jaw structure.

The painless i-CAT system uses a lower radiation dose than a traditional full mouth x-ray series, and without patients having to bite down on the uncomfortable device that holds the film in place while the X-rays are taken.

With i-CAT, the scan is done in less than 10 seconds, and images are ready for Dr. Barakat to review less than a minute later.

How Is the i-CAT Scan Used in Orthodontic Treatment?

Three-dimensional images give us the most accurate information available today for designing an orthodontic treatment plan. The i-CAT provides clear images for better diagnoses and better patient treatment.

One scan provides every view we need of your teeth and jaws, allowing Dr. Barakat to accurately determine the best orthodontic treatment plan to achieve your smile goal.

Are i-CAT Scans Safe?

One of the most important benefits of the i-CAT Cone Beam is the ability to obtain images with much better clarity and detail while delivering a lower radiation dose than the typical digital standard full mouth X-ray series.

Radiation doses from the i-CAT are significantly lower than conventional medical CT scanners.

PROPEL® Your New Smile

How long will you need to wear your braces? If you could find a way to get the same results in less time, would you be interested? Of course you would!

One of the most innovative accelerated orthodontic treatment technologies today comes in a handheld device: PROPEL.

When time is of the essence, Dr. Barakat can help you complete your orthodontic treatments in less than a year with state-of-the-art technology from PROPEL® Orthodontics.

The PROPEL system is an FDA-approved, minimally invasive micro-osseous perforation procedure used to stimulate the bones in your mouth, leading to faster bone remodeling.

Dr. Barakat will use the PROPEL device to create micro-osseous perforations (MOPs) near the gum line to make teeth move easier. The system is scientifically proven to accelerate the tooth movement associated with orthodontic treatments.

Will There be Any Pain or Downtime?

The micro-invasive procedure is relatively painless for most people. Before the procedure, a topical anesthetic will be applied.

Some people feel discomfort as the anesthetic wears off, so you can take acetaminophen to relieve any pain. You can resume your regular activities with no downtime and no dietary restrictions.

How Long Will It Take to See Results?

When used in combination with Spark or InBrace clear aligners, self-ligating braces and other orthodontic braces, your teeth can move into position in as little as half the time of orthodontic treatments working alone.

Ask About PROPEL to Accelerate Your Orthodontic Treatment

PROPEL can cut down your orthodontic treatment time significantly, so ask the Opus1 Orthodontic team if PROPEL is right for you. Spend less time in braces so you can love your results sooner!

We’re delighted you’ve chosen to straighten your teeth with Spark or InBrace clear plastic aligners, one of today’s most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments. Several accelerated orthodontic treatments have been developed to work with your aligners to enhance their effectiveness and straighten your teeth faster.

One of the latest innovative technology solutions designed to ensure the proper seating of clear plastic aligners is now available at Opus1 Orthodontic Studio: Dr. Barakat is proud to offer the Propel VPro5 to Scottsdale patients.

Why Is Proper Aligner Seating Important?

A critical factor in aligner success is making sure the aligner is properly seated. Aligner trays that are not fitted correctly may lose their grip around the teeth, which means reduced force on the teeth and increased potential for teeth to move inappropriately.

These problems may result in a longer treatment time than originally planned.

How Does The vPro5 Work?

The vPro5 is an FDA-approved device that vibrates to help clear plastic aligners fit properly to your teeth. Worn just five minutes a day, the vPro5 mouthpiece uses high frequency vibrations to ensure that your aligners fit better and help you achieve more predictable results.

Benefits of Using the vPro5

Patients in Scottsdale who use the vPro5 can enjoy:

  • Faster, more predictable tooth movement thanks to properly-seated aligners
  • A mere 5-minute-a-day investment that vastly improves results
  • Simple use and simple care

Your Satisfaction Is Our First Priority

Ask Dr. Barakat if the VPro5 can be used with your Spark or InBrace clear aligners to help you achieve your smile goals faster and easier.

ITERO®: Digital Accuracy

If you’ve ever had to endure the dreaded “pink goop” to make impressions of your mouth, you’ll be relieved to know that we offer more sophisticated options in our Scottsdale office.

Opus1 Orthodontic Studio is proud to offer the latest impression technology: the iTero Intraoral Scanner. The accuracy and precision of the iTero scanner help you achieve your best results.

What Is an Intraoral Scanner?

The iTero scanner is a radiation-free laser that uses optical technology, making the scanner a safe and highly accurate tool for developing orthodontic treatment plans.

This handheld device is used by Dr. Barakat to create a digital map of your mouth quickly and precisely without the need for alginate impressions.

How Does the iTero Scanner Work?

The iTero scanner captures images of your teeth and soft tissue structures digitally to develop a 3D impression. In just two to three minutes, your entire mouth can be scanned to help us create a treatment plan for clear aligners, traditional braces or self-ligating braces.

This digital technology makes treatment planning much faster and more precise than the old method of goopy, unpleasant alginate impressions.

The iTero Scanner for Accelerated Orthodontic Treatment Precision

In just one visit to our Scottsdale office, we’ll have a map of your mouth and a treatment plan based on some of the most accurate digital technology available.

The iTero scanner has been designed to work especially well with Spark or InBrace by providing clear aligners that fit better but can benefit all orthodontic treatments offered at Opus1 Orthodontic Studio.
