Opus 1 Orthodontic Studio is proud to employ some of the most advanced technologies in orthodontics to make your treatment faster, easier, less invasive, more precise and more successful. With the i-CAT Cone Beam Imaging system, we can scan your teeth and jaws for a 3D image with improved accuracy and obtain faster results than traditional full-mouth x-rays.

How does the i-CAT 3D imaging system work?
While you remain comfortably seated, the i-CAT scanner moves around your head taking a high-definition digital picture of your exact teeth position and underlying jaw structure. The painless i-CAT system uses a lower radiation dose than a traditional full mouth x-ray series, and without patients having to bite down on the uncomfortable device that holds the film in place while the X-rays are taken. With i-CAT, in less than 10 seconds the scan is done, and images are ready for review less than a minute later.

What is the i-CAT scan used for in orthodontic treatment?
Three-dimensional images give us the most accurate information available today for designing an orthodontic treatment plan. The i-CAT provides clear images for better diagnoses and better patient treatment. One scan provides every view we need of your teeth and jaws, allowing us to accurately determine the best orthodontic treatment plan to achieve your smile goal.

Is a full head i-CAT scan safe?
One of the most important benefits of the i-CAT Cone Beam is the ability to obtain images with much better clarity and detail while delivering a lower radiation dose than the typical digital standard full mouth x-ray series. Radiation doses from the i-CAT are significantly lower than conventional medical CT scanners.

How long will you need to wear your braces? If you could find a way to get the same results in less time, would you be interested? Of course you would! One of the most innovative accelerated orthodontic treatment technologies today comes in a little disposal handheld device: PROPEL. When time is of the essence, many patients can now complete their orthodontic treatments in less than a year with state-of-the-art technology from PROPEL® Orthodontics.

What is PROPEL?
The PROPEL System is a patented, FDA approved, minimally invasive micro-osseous perforation procedure used to stimulate the bones in your mouth, leading to faster bone remodeling. Utilizing the PROPEL device, your orthodontist will create micro-osseous perforations (MOPs) near the gum line to make teeth move easier. The system is scientifically proven to accelerate the tooth movement associated with orthodontic treatments.

Will there be any pain or downtime?
The micro-invasive procedure is relatively painless for most people. Before the procedure, a topical anesthetic will be applied. Some people feel discomfort as the anesthetic wears off, so you can take acetaminophen to relieve any pain. You can resume your regular activities with no downtime and no dietary restrictions.

How long will it take to see the results?
When used in combination with Invisalign, self-ligating braces and other orthodontic braces, your teeth will move into their desired position in as little as half the time of orthodontic treatments working alone.

Ask us about PROPEL for accelerated orthodontic treatment
PROPEL can cut down your orthodontic treatment time significantly. Ask our Scottsdale orthodontist if PROPEL is right for you. Spend less time in braces and love the results!

We’re delighted you’ve chosen to straighten your teeth with Invisalign™ clear plastic aligners, one of today’s most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments. Several accelerated orthodontic treatments have been developed to work with the aligners to enhance their effectiveness or straighten teeth faster. One of the latest innovative technology solutions designed to ensure the proper seating of clear plastic aligners – Propel VPro5 – is now available at Opus 1 Orthodontic Studio. Dr. Barakat is proud to offer our patients the Propel VPro5 in Scottsdale, AZ.

The importance of proper aligner seating
A critical factor in aligner success is making sure the aligner is properly seated. Aligner trays that are not fitted correctly may lose their grip around the teeth, which means reduced force on the teeth and the potential for teeth to move inappropriately. These problems may result in a longer treatment time than originally planned.

How does the VPro5 work?
The VPro5 is an FDA-approved device that vibrates to assist clear plastic aligners to fit properly to a patient’s teeth. Worn just five minutes a day, the VPro5 mouthpiece uses high frequency vibrations to ensure better seating of the aligners, which helps patients achieve more predictable results. After the five minutes, patients simply rinse off the mouthpiece and it’s ready to use again.

Benefits of using the VPro5
Patients using the VPro5 in Scottsdale, AZ, may experience:
• More predictable movements when aligners fit teeth properly
• Fewer delays with properly seated aligners
• The convenience of wearing the device just five minutes a day at home or away
• The ease of simply rinsing off the device daily before storing for next use

Patient satisfaction is our number one goal. Ask Dr. Barakat if the VPro5 used in conjunction with your Invisalign clear aligners could help you achieve your smile goals.

Achieving impeccable results for your smile has never been easier or faster. Call our Scottsdale orthodontist office at (480) 865-2848 to schedule a consultation…and discover your smile potential!

If you’ve ever had to endure the dreaded “pink goop” to make impressions of your mouth, you’ll be excited to learn that you won’t see it in our Scottsdale orthodontist office. Opus 1 Orthodontic Studio is proud to offer the latest impression technology: the iTero Intraoral Scanner. The accelerated orthodontic treatment precision of the iTero helps the patient and the doctor achieve the best results.

What is an intraoral scanner?
This handheld device is used by orthodontists to create a digital map of your mouth quickly and precisely without the need for alginate impressions. The iTero scanner is a radiation-free laser that uses optical technology, making the scanner a safe and highly accurate tool for developing orthodontic treatment plans.

How does the iTero scanner work?
The iTero scanner captures images of your teeth and soft tissue structures digitally to develop a 3D impression. In just two to three minutes, your entire mouth can be scanned and we have a model of your teeth to create a treatment plan for Invisalign, traditional braces or self-ligating braces.
